Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also plays music. She is the youngest female and also the first woman to be awarded a British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is an Indian young sitar artist. She is the student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing around from London and New Delhi. When she was 13, she gave her first show in New Delhi. She then moved in Encinitas CA, where she obtained the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha still has a promising career in recording and performing despite being young. She has performed with her father on stage for several years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy nominated album Live At Carnegie Hall. She has performed at most major venues around the globe. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not only limited to music. Bapi the Love of My Live, a biography of a picture that was dedicating to her dad Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. In addition, she has appeared in a number of films. In 2003, she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she plays a young Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will only continue to grow and develop. Following her move to California she completed the high school. When she was 9 she began her studies in the piano with her father. Her first performance with the sitar came at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi in the year following. Anoushka gained many valuable experiences by accompanying her dad when he toured the world. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts in addition to performing alongside George Harrison. Her artistry and musicianship were acknowledged by the British Parliament as being among the top in Asian Arts.
